Mother of 4-H features Jessie Field Shambaugh who introduced lessons in agriculture and home making to her class at Goldenrod School in 1901. This concept became the basis for the 4-H Club of America. The school was built between 1872-4, four miles east of Essex, lowa. It was later moved to the Page County 4-H Fairgrounds in Clarinda.
